Well, the Security six I was looking to play with turned out to be "not as described" and I didn't take it (mentioned on earlier post). I was looking for a 4 " heavy barrel, stainless Security six in great (tight action) condition. Did some more looking and reading, and came to the conclusion that a Ruger GP100 stainless 4" full lug barrel with adjustable sights was the way to go. I am now a proud new owner of this hefty little brut (my first GP100). The gun (used) isn't as dainty as the security six (38oz vs 34 oz), but I really like the extra locking device in the cylinder yoke. Excellent design. Trigger both SA and DA are very nice. SA is icicle-breaking crisp with minimal overtravel. 3 lbs I'm guessing? I was just busting some old reloads I had left over from 1992 (for my old, long gone, 6" blued security six), and at 25 yards, I was shooting 2.0 to 3.0 inch groups over the roof of my car at the local gravel pit. The two loads were 148 grain HB wadcutters, and 170 grain jacketed HP Sierras-admittedly a wide range of the two loads. The heavier 170 grainers' recoil was definitely much more comfortable than I remember when compared to my security six. The wadcutters felt like I was spitting. This is going to be a fun gun. I've order a bunch of bullets, including the 168 grain tradition "keith" bullet from Leadhead bullets, and some 140's and 158's. I'm not trying to find the ultimate defense gun, so I'm staying away from the 125 grainers. I like medium to large hunks of lead at moderate velocity. Call me crazy. May take it with me deer hunting. I also order the Ruger "V and bead" rear/front sight set for the pistol. I had that set up on a Redhawk and liked it a great deal. Will keep you posted on the next range session. Hope to try 25 and 50 yards. I am a new GP100 fan. See attached link for a good read on it. http://www.gunweek.com/2004/feature1010.html <A HREF="http://www.handloads.com/articles/default.asp?id=8%5B/URL%5D" TARGET=_blank>http://www.handloads.com/articles/default.asp?id=8</A> Dry Creek no longer makes bullets, which is why I went to Leadhead. Excellent quality and service at Leadhead bullets. I use their 230 grain Keith bullets in my Ruger 41 mag Bisley. Accurate! leadhead bullets: https://www.proshootpro.com/order.htm It just feels good in my hands.

catboat, www.cdnninvestments.com advertised new in box, blue Security Sixes that were manufactured in 1970 in their last catalogue! These were recently discovered revolvers that had been stored in someone's warehouse and evidently, forgotten about. $349.99 plus whatever your local dealer charges to handle the transfer. "No one told you when to run; you missed the starting gun."

I have a Six, 6" heavy bbl. blue. Orig wood grips. Mint condition. Only criticism I have of the gun is that it rolls back and up in my hand when shooting. Grips would fix that, but the current ones are stock, orig. wood. I'm guessing walnut, checkered.
