As I understand it, Manurhin, per se, is no longer in business. Current production of MR 73's and variants is owned by Chapuis Armes. They have a web site with pics of MR 73s, etc on it. I would contact them directly or one of the US importers (a couple of which have posted on AR from time to time) and see what they say. There is some discussion around about whether Chapuis is still actually producing any of the MR73s. I don't know but their site indicates they are. I would expect that the minimum you can get a new one for would be about $2500 or more.

If you want to get your feet wet, you can buy them well used for about $500. Try Allan's Armory.

Thank you, Gatogordo. Price is not an issue. I am retiring this month, and want to buy myself a few gifts, one of which would be an MR 73. Would you know who the Chapuis importers here are? I'll e-mail Chapuis as well, but am worried that some of the European companies take long times to reply - if they do reply, that is. Smiler

Thanks, again, and good hunting!

They are listed on their site. There are quite a few listed.

Thanks. Just saw one Houston dealer - Eurogun Imports - listed on the Chapuis website. I'll call and meet them.

Thanks again and good hunting!

Sorry for the delay, Gatogordo. I'm starting a limo service to have something to do during my retirement, and that delayed my contacting Chapuis importers. Eurogun Imports, the Houston importer listed on the Chapuis website, seem to have gone out of business. When I called, the number turned out to belong to a software company. I then talked to Ken Bush at Kebco LLC, and had a nice chat with him. The Manurhin revolvers are still being made, but new EU regulations have stalled all handgun exports from what Ken explained. He has two revolvers on order, one for a client, and one for himself, and both are stuck in France because no one seems to know about clearing them for export.

Ken and I decided to meet at DSC and touch base in January, following which he offered to import Manurhins if he could get the first two orders (from January 2014) in. Hope this helps. My friend Jean Verney-Carron had strongly recommended that I talk to Ken, and I can see why. It was good talking to him.

Mehul:

Thanks very much for update. I dislike "gatherings" but I also may visit with Mr. Bush at DSC, if I go.

Did you get an indication of general pricing level?

Edmond:

Thanks for the link, but not really anything there that is all that helpful.

However, I did manage to pick up an MR 38 Match and an MR 96. Very neat but haven't had a chance to shoot them so far, between Christmas, kids, and rain.

I have 2 beat up 73s but am actively in market for a nice sport example.
