Spent more than I would normally spend for a pistol. This particular Smith and Wesson Model "627 V-Comp" stainless 8-shot revolver required me to spend $1000. That is actually a fairly cheap price for this model, which normally sells for $1200 and up. It is used and was manufactured in 2006. The Smith and Wesson Performance Center worked on it to perfect it. I was skeptical that it could out-shoot my other revolvers (Colt and Ruger), but it did. It put 8 rounds in a tight group above the bull at 25 yards.

I always thought that a pistol is hard to aim well consistently, so I must be printing wild with my other pistols because I'm holding and squeezing wild. Now I'm beginning to look at the Ruger and Colt with a jaundiced eye.

The "V-Comp" refers to the bolt-on attachment muzzle extension with the vents, designed to reduce muzzle jump and recoil. The 627 has a 5-inch barrel, slightly longer with the compensator. I can report that it is highly recommended, despite the price. Good shooting. Bill

The S&W PC's are very nice guns. I am waiting on a good price for a revolver in 38 Super.
