I have always used 180 gr. FPs or JHPs in my 40's. I found a couple of Midway "blue boxes" containing 155 gr. JHPs, presumably seconds, so I loaded up a few with 9.0 grains of Longshot, a powder that I use in my 10mm. Max is 9.3, so I am up there but not pushing the limit. The load is stiff, but surprisingly accurate.

This group was fired at 25 yards using an MTM pistol rest, from my S&W Shorty Forty.
I like it!
Peter.

No, not yet! Next outing. I suspect around 1200 fps, as the max load 9.3 is somewhere around 1275 as I recollect. No double taps with this load, that's for sure!

If you want some already loaded, there is a guy on Gunbroker that has the 155 Winchester Rangers selling for $170/500 right now. I bought some since that is what my CZ likes and they are perfect for self defense.

Average velocity (of 5 shots) of the load in question is 1156 FPS from a S&W Shorty Forty.

I've been loading some 155g Laser Cast with a healthy dose of Power pistol for 1,297fps out of a Sig 226 with great accuracy.

I took a small mule deer buck a couple of years ago with that load.
