I sold four unopened boxes of original Win. Black Talon .45 ACP (20 per box), about three months ago, at the Boise Gun Show, for $35.00 per box. Cool

Bought them years ago for $10.00 per box. Used to shoot them before the whining, moaning left wing liberal sheeple got Win. to withdraw them from the market.

I don't think they are any more effective in self defense than Federal Hydra Shoks. (I know of several shootings with each.)

You should be able to get that $35.00 per box for your Black Talons.

I certainly appreciate you giving me this info. I have had offers from $10.00 to $20.00 per box. It would appear that others want to make a profit and I have no problem with that. It is, after all, the American way. I think I will sit on these until someone gets closer.

Remington Golden Saber 45acp is similar opens up like a cookie cutter. For my 357 mag I prefer to load Speer 148gr hollow base wadcutters upside down makes a large hollow cavity round. It's a very effective self defense round ,I carried them when I backpacked in addition to the 125gr Jacketed HP pocket rockets I loaded for my SS 357 Ruger 4" Security Six.

These are Black Talons. Give me another email address and I will scan a box for you. THanks for the info. If you want them you can have them for $30.00/box. That would leave you room for a fair profit.
Like I posted, I have no problem with others making a profit. It is the American way.

I am getting old and I am not as fast as I once was. It is a real concern for me that I might get disarmed. I KNOW WHAT I CAN DO with a pistol in my hand. I worry about the bad guy getting my handgun and for that reason I NOW CARRY HARD BALL IN MY .45. If I have to get shot I would rather it be a nice clean pass thru. Me, I am going to shoot the MF in the head. WIth luck, he will miss me.

Probably the reason that most guys here AREN'T paying $35 a box for them.

They got hyped up a few years back, but in reality are no more "lethal" than Hydra-Shoks or a number of other currently available offerings.

I carry Hydra-Shoks and don't feel that Black Talons would give me any more advantage.

Oh sure, I'd carry them with confidence, but they'd be nothing more than a piece of a tool. Certainly not enough of a difference to pay triple (or more) the price...

They got hyped-up because the NY subway shooter used them and someone attributed the high mortality rate to the bullet (BS but it worked). If you ever end up having to use one on a perp every plantiff's attorney knows that if they dig a Black Talon out of the dude they have a much better chance of parting you from your children's future estate. I always use something approved as standard duty issue ammo for my local law enforcement to avoid the problem.

The only difference aside from the black coating between the SXP and the black talon
or for that matter from the remington "Golden saber" is the kind of press they got.

The bullets are constructed and perform identically.

Another remarkably similar bullet (in terminal ballistics) is the Eldorado

$35 seems to be the going rate for Talons in the more common calibers like 45ACP.

Wanna see rediculous? 10mm Auto Black talons... I've seen them offered for sale at gunshows at $65 a box and up.

I've got some.

The antis went after it . It was 'black' therefore not PC. I remember Sen Schumer saying ,with great emotion, 'It hooks into the flesh ! ' ,showing a photo of the expanded bullet. Another said it filled the body with bits of lead ! In any case bullet development since then has lead to a number of excellent choices ,pick your favorite of the premium rounds.

For years the LE liability classes stressed carry only factory ammo for self defense that way when it's tested it will be one less item you'll have to be concerned about in a civil trial filed by the perp or his family.I don't have any handloaded ammo in my self defense carry weapons,I have it in my hunting weapons only.

scr83jp... you are right and that is why I too only carry factory loaded ammo for my 45 ACP. I shoot the 200gr. +P Speer Gold Dot factory ammo which is also carried by many local LE personnel. Hey, it is as good if not better than the Talons and its only $12 for a box of 20. It may have been a while since I was at a gun show but I used to see the same dealers trying time after time to pawn off the inflated priced Talon ammo and mostly wasting their efforts and money. Hell, sell the damn things for what you have in them and put the money where its going to do something for you...the stock market pays a better return all the while you are waiting for the right sucker to pay $30-35 a box.

Hello,
I am the original poster. I am not trying to sucker anyone. I bought these years ago the day I saw the proposed ban. You might also want to appologize the some of the "SUCKERS" that are cartridge collectors and who wish to purchase a full NEW IN 100% condition box for their collections. I have not sold my talons as yet as I have been involved in a multi state move and I can not find them in all the damn boxes. Read my original posts before you are so quick to judge.
I do however agree that they are highly overrated and I don't carry them in my .45. I use hard ball and count on my skill in bullet placement to save my day. I am getting old and I have a legitimate worry that some young thug just might take my weapon away from me and I sure as hell don't want to get shot with some of the stuff that is out there. better the hard ball and with luck they might miss altogether. Of course if I get the chance to shoot, he or shee isn't going to get up from a head shot.

ok winggunner, I apologize to both you and any collectors out there that think this ammo is worth that kind of money... perhaps it is if you need it to add to your collection. That being said, I just don't think that there are as many collectors as there is people expecting to get triple their initial investment on this ammo. If you would take that money and invest it in even a decent mutual fund you will double your money every 7 yrs. if not sooner. I really have to wonder how these dealers at the shows make ends meet because they have the same stuff show after show. I hope you get the price you are asking. Perhaps you may be better off looking for a trade of something of equal value that you need and someone else don't but wants what you have too. You never know.
