Hi guys, I am traveling from Denver to Phoenix this summer to hike the Grand Canyon with my daughter and would like to bring a handgun with me. I am a licensed CCW holder in Colorado but have no idea what the airline regs are regarding transport of a handgun in checked luggage. Can anyone point me to where I can find out? | ||

As long as it is checked I don't see a problem. Make sure it is unloaded. CCW should have nothing to do with it. However, you should check the regs in the Grand Canyon Park. I suspect that they do not allow firearms. Peter. Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Rock, as a generalization the firearm must be legal where you start and where you are to finish your flight. It is possible that if your plane was to be forced down in a unfriendly state that you could have trouble when changing planes and re-checking the luggage. A rare possibility. Normally a handgun is handled exactly like a rifle for air transport. Get information from your airline as well, as to their regs for packing. Go for it! Member NRA, SCI- Life #358 28+ years now!
