I went to my American Legion post 435 gun club in lakeville, MN and I was going to shoot some rounds I loaded for my 475 Linebaugh. This guy came up to me and said, "you know, I was told that if someone pulls out one of those large wheel guns on you, to just rush them and tackle them because they will only get off one shot and it'll either be a miss or a hit. I was thinking,"ok, that may be true but you didn't have to be an asshole about it. Then I was minding my own buissness again and he came up and said something to the effect of , "could you even hit anything with that f in hand cannon?" I told him that this is not supposed to be a personal defense gun and that I'm still learning to shoot pistol and I loaded light loads along with regular. It'll be a hunting pistol. I just ignored him thinking it's not a wise idea to start a fight at a gun range and maybe hill just shut up if I ignore him. Then while I was shooting, the guy came up again and said, That thing's not good for anything unless your shooting at a 900 lbs 20 foot tall person. At this point I was infferiated. It took all my effort not to shoot a 338win round threw his chopper motor while I was driving off. He ruined the range day for me and my family and frineds that were on leave from deployment and wanted to spend a day at the range. Sorry, I just had to vent this cause it took everthing for me to hold it in and leave trying to be the better man. My thought's are, if you enjoy the pistol your shooting, then why do assholes have to come up and try to put you down for having fun shooting? It's like, I served, I earned my privilages to shoot at this range, now if you can't be cool, then shut your mouth. They guy's friend that was letting my mom shoot his 22 pistol was cool though sorry, that's the last of it

He was just jealous and was probably peeing his pants watchihng you shoot. Most guys that bad mouth them are afraid of them and dont want to see others who are not afraid shooting something that they wouldnt.

I subscribe to the 10% rule. Anywhere you go in the world, 10% of the people are going to be cluless a--holes. After the first time he "stopped by" I would have asked him politely to mind his own business & stay in his own shooting lane. It's a free country, but not when you invade my personal space. I shoot a private range, but ocasionally you still get the clueless stop by. LIFE IS NOT A SPECTATOR'S SPORT!

That should have been your first clue about this idiot. I have to agree with fred338 on the first part. I'm afraid I wouldn't have been so polite the second time around.

Oh come on, have some fun with it. "Why, I am overwhelmed by your insightful personal experience. Could you expand on it for me?" "Oh my, all of this expert advice and I didn't even have to pay for it, let alone ask for it." "Why, 900 pounds and 20 feet, that IS about the size of the moose I was thinking of. What handgun did you use last time?" "That's a catchy tune you are humming, but I just can't understand the words." "Do you need Viagra to get that ego stiff, or is it hereditary?" "If you are alone in the woods and relate your vast experience with this caliber to the trees, do they care any more than I?" "I see by your size 14 shoe and size 2 hat that you DO know all about this." Just some fun!!! Why do dogs bark? He was just doing what assholes do. If he weren't rude to strangers, he wouldn't be a real, true asshole.

I wouldn’t get to upset about it. He either wanted to intimidate you or it was his first day with the new brain. It’s obvious he has as much personality as you can fill a thimble. Hopefully he will never end up as your neighbor. Cheers.

It would appear as though the guy is attempting overcompensate for a personal deficiency. Harley + badmouthing other peoples equipment= 3.25" pecker ---------------------------------------- If you waste your time a talkin' to the people who don't listen To the things that you are sayin' who do you thinks gonna hear And if you should die explainin' how the thing they complain about Or the things they could be changing who do you thinks gonna care Waylon Jennings

get up as close to his bench as you can and start shooting.....prefereably after he has taken his muffs off. thank him for his good advice and for a gift put a huge bag of cow dung in his front seat. "When you play, play hard; when you work, don't play at all." Theodore Roosevelt

He sounds like the type who has been around some of the 500 S&W crowd. Some of them know what they're doing with 'em, but others shouldn't even load a pez dispenser. It sounds like he's jealous... heck, I am! A Linebaugh is a quality piece. He drives a chopper too... not to generalize but he's likely exactly what I picture. My advice... ignore him, or throw a little s**t his way to even the score! mark

gotta go with nugman on this one. it's been my experience that most idiots can be baffled with silence. response is their fuel. let them run outta gas and they'll sit there quietly trying to figure out the next move. and with an i.q. equalling a number less than it takes to get social security, by the time they figured out what to say to you next, you'll have enjoyed your day, expended the ammo you brung, and will be merrily skipping your way back home.
