A buddy of mine brought the new Ruger 380 we took out to the range ran apoxx two box's of fmj and a couple of mags of federal hydoshock hollow points through it.

Fed them all with out any trouble. At about 10 yards with slow shooting I could put them into about 3 inchs. At five yards as fast as I could touch them off I dump them into about 2 inchs.

One handed as fast as I could I could keep them into the center area of a 8 by 11 sheet of paper.

At 15 yards I was able to put 3 of 4 onto a 6 inch rock.

If one took a real fine sight picture it shot about 6 inchs low after useing a more course picture (more of the front sight showing) she was dead on.

Sights are only fair the double action only trigger pull was not too bad.

Over all a light weight slim reliable little 380. The best thing it feed and shot every round throught it with out a bit of trouble.

butchloc It is as small as a keltec. But unlike a keltec it works every shot. I have shot several keltec and they all have had problems.

I was looking at the Ruger LCP 380, but got the Kal-Tec instead. I have not had one problem with the Kal-Tec feeding. It shoots as fast as I can pull the trigger.

I ran about 100 rounds through it and not one problem to report.

The Kal-tec is just a wee bit smaller than the Ruger, The Ruger is a little thicker than the Kal-tec.

The very first 250 rounds through my KelTec P3-AT were mixed weight reloads...88 to 147 grains...just about every 9mm bullet weight there is, mixed together in the magazine. Not a single FTF or FTE. Not one! I know there have been some folks who sent their P3-AT back to the factory to correct some problems. They were all done under warranty. Lots were written up in the KT Owner's Group forum. So it's no secret that not every gun to come down the pike was in perfect operational order.

I load CorBon's DPX factory fresh 88gr ammo. It was specifically designed and tested to function 100% in the P3-AT. It should work similarly in the LCP 380.

Let's see how Rooger does with warranty claims once they have as many weapons in the field as KelTec. BTW, doesn't it look like Rooger copied almost every part of the P3-AT? Certainly not an original idea.

As a personal defense, concealed carry pistol, I never practice looking through those crude sights. If I had to aim that far away to hit my target bad guy, the state of Pennsylvania would likely claim that I wasn't in mortal danger enough to shoot him. Just the way it is these days.

PS...the Rooger is thicker cause it has a slide holdback after the last round is fired. P3-AT does not.

ive been playing some with my new lcp too. Ive shot ww silvertips horn. xtps and ww white box ball through it and its yet to bobble in anyway. It shoots fairly accurtately for a small gun. the only complaint i have is i wish the trigger pull was a tad bit lighter. But for what its for its fine.

ruger has a slide lockback but it only works as a manual slide lock and doesnt lock back after the last round.

My mistake.

So it isn't that much improved over the P3-AT.

and the kel-tec was no improvement over the grendel which was introduced about 20 years ago.
the grendel was the original design. they gave up, kel-tec picked up where they left off, didn't bother to get a patent on the design, and now ruger has picked up the ball and is running with it.
each evolution of this gun is better than the previous from what i can tell. never owned a grendel, but did own a kel-tec. not that reliable to be honest. haven't owned nor fired the ruger yet, but know several whom have. every report i've heard says it's very reliable, terribly accurate for what it is, and has some nicer features.
for me personally, i'm getting ready to leave my house and go to the gun store to pick up a walther pps in 9mm. twice the weight, but twice the gun too!
