I find the stock grips on the Ruger Super Blackhawk barely big enough, so I would like to get some bigger wood stocks. I looked at Hogue, but theirs were all finger grooved that I saw in the catalog. Are they comfortable enough, or does someone make smooth, oversized grips for the SBH? sputster

FWIW, I love my Hogue finger grooved grips, but your hand may be a different size. I definitely prefer the finger grooves in the larger calibers for more control of recoil. My wife's .44 has slick Pachmayr's (which fit her hands fine) and I always feel like it's gonna slip out of my hands with hotter loads.

I would not recommend finger groove grips for heavy loads in the SBH, but if you not using heavy loads, have at it. I know you weren't asking for my advice! Peter. Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong;

What Daniel said, with the exception of the Pachmayrs. I use the standard Ruger grips on my Super Redhawk, but I use Hogue finger groove grips on my carry gun, a tuned Colt Commander. I really like them. The gun fits me like a glove and I have large hands, so it really depends on your hand size. I also use a Hogue grip on my .38 snubby, a Smith 649. I bought three different grips before I found one that I liked.
