I am looking at getting an XDM in 45 acp. I like the way it feels in my hand . Does anybody have any input on this pistol ? I am thinking the 4 1/2 inch barreled model. Thanks for any input , good or bad.

The magazines for the 45ACP XD and XDM are the same. I was hoping for at least one or two more rounds.
All I've seen at my agency have been 9mm and 40S&W versions. They all like them.

I'm holding out for a .357Sig version.

The "M" in XDM stands for "match grade barrel", and other than that they are the same as the older SA model XD. I have shot the XD40 tactical (long slide/barrel) and really liked it. It was very accurate and easy for me to shoot well. When funds become available I plan on getting an XD.

Don't own a .45 ACP version but have shot two XDMs in .40 S&W extensively and found them to be excellent pistols in every respect.

There are several differences between the standard XD and the XDM. The XDM, for example, has interchangeable backstrap inserts to suit different hand sizes. The takedown procedure does not require the mainspring to be released before takedown.

Not sure if the XD and XDM .45 ACP magazines are the same but those in 9mm and .40 S&W do not interchange. XDM magazines hold more cartridges and seem to be more heavily built.

Several friends use the XD and XDM pistols, some for competition and others for police duty. All speak highly of the pistols.

I have owned an xd's, glocks and S&W M&P's.

IMHO the M&P's fit and function the best, followed by glocks, then xd's

That is your opinion. I have owned them all and while I liked the feel of the M&P best the XD has the better trigger and Glocks just reek.
My XD 45 Tactical is the best shooting .45 I have including a Sig Sauer P220 and H&K USP45.
But it's my opinion.

Yep, just my opinion. I should point out that they are all excellent guns, and will function all the time, and shoot better than most of us are capable.
