What is your opinion of the Springfield 1911 GI .45? What do you think of Springfield 1911s in general?

I would love to have one. I decided not to buy the only one I have personally seen, and have yet to see another in person yet. I am by no means an expert of 1911's but it seemed like a very well made gun for the money. When I decided to try and buy one, no one had them. Yesterday, I went to SAs website and the gun is not listed anymore. Wonder what is going on?

the pistol is still on their website but it's kind of hard to find it. i asked one of my local gunshops about the Springfield GI .45 yesterday and they told me Springfield had stopped making them. i really wish they were still making them because i want a 1911 that looks as close to what the WWII models looked like as i can get.

Take a look at the Rock Islands...I am very pleased with the one I bought. I have been told that Rock Island is making Springfield's frames...

You might want to look at the ATI series of 1911's also.
