I've got 3 1911s getting tuned up. With compensators and springs.
2 Governments and 1 Commander. The Commander and 1 Gov, are using STI barrels and the other Gov is touting a Wilson Combat barrel.
The Commander is going to get a steady diet of 45-08s.
Starting at 10 grains of Longshot and working up.
At the ceiling a 200 grain, 25 BHN, SWC, will be about 1500 FPS. Or about 300 PF.
It'll have a nice long, multi-port comp.
I just can't wait until they're finished.
Not to mention getting the cases made up.
It's gonna be a hoot!

Let me make sure what you are doing.
Are you making 308 brass into 45 ACP or are you going to make a 30 caliber from the 308 brass to the dimensions of the 45?

Speer, Sierra, Lyman, Hornady, Hodgdon have reliable reloading data. You won't find it on so and so's web page.

308 brass into 45 Auto. It is troublesome to get to the point of useable brass, but, it lasts for quite a few re-loadings.
Is it worth it? For someone in the U.S., the 460 Rowland would be a better option. Up here, the barreled package and brass can be too costly or hard to obtain.
I guess you can call the 45-08 a Canadian 460 Rowland.

I made some "shot shells" out of 30-06 for my 45 ACP and I know what you mean about "troublesome". I even made some shells for standard bullets from 30-06 but with limited success. I used a reamer inside the case to thin them down and had to build a fixture to keep it all centered in the process.

Good luck in your endeavor.

.366T, I don't think I will ever build a 45/08 but I find it very interesting. What length do you trim the 308W brass to? I assume you use the standard 45ACP extractor in these, is this correct? Also, are you having the ejection ports opened? What weight recoil springs are you going to use? Sorry for all the questions. Frankly, I have never heard of this wildcat before. Good luck with them and hope you can make them run!

The idea and loads were thought out by a pistolsmith named Gunnar Christensen.
As PaulS alluded to, you lathe turn cases at 45 Auto length and ream the inside of the neck.
You end up with an extremely stout 45 case and still use all 45 Auto loading devices.
A royal pain in the arse to get there, but it makes for a real gong ringing and steel target flattening machine.
Plus I don't want to shoot 9mm beside my wife shooting a 9mm as well.
Cave man pride and all that nonsense, I suppose.

It's not really a wildcat, per se', rather making "duplicate" cases from the rifle cartridge. I made mine from 3006 but you can use most any of the cartridges with the .473" base. Reaming the inside is the part that requires the most accuracy and it takes a jig to get it as perfect as possible. The finished case should be very close in volume to the original case but it will have a bit thicker web.
