I have a chance to buy on of these at a very low price but cannot find any info on it. It is not shown on the Beretta website but I read it may still be made in Turkey by Stoeger under some other name. I believe it uses "rotary" lock-up rather than Browning/1911 link system. I don't know a lot about semi-auto pistols. Is this a good one? Any comments appriciated.

I don't know much about that one but the newer PX4 has been well received. Both have a rotating locking system. BTW various rotating locking systems both locked breech and delayed blowback have been made for about 100 years !
I would not buy a clone only an original. But you would be buying an obsolete gun .I would check the prices of the PX4 and decide with that info.

Thanks for the reply mete. I finally found lots of info by searching "Beretta mod. 8000 Cougar". I think I will probably buy the gun...partly because of the breeching system but also because most owners say it shoots cast bullets and other handloads well. It's also "NATO approved" which, among other things, means it can fire over 30,000 rounds and still function. Hope to get started on that 30,000 next weekend! Thanks again for the comments.
