I'm picking up my first 1911 tomorrow. I'd like to replace the grips with some nice wood. The choices are dizzying. Can you guys post pics of your wood grips on your 1911's? Along with a picture please post the type of wood and where you got it. Much appreciated! ----------------------------------------- "I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. -Henry David Thoreau, Walden

Take a look at Alex Hamilton's website, Ten Ring Precision. He has some really nice walnut.

Storms, I have owned a 1911 of some flavor or another since Reagan was president, and I still surprise myself when I handle one with uncomfortable grips that don't look that way until you shoot it. so my advice is to hold a few different ones, either at a range or at a gunshow or store, and then decide what preferences your hands have. Or else you can do what I did and buy a nice looking set of grips from a well known maker and THEN decide they are uncomfortable. for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside
