I have a high standard GI 45. The rear sight is in a dovetail but the front is not. Is it possible to put new sights on? | ||

i have a rock island which is similar and i know on mine you can knock the front sight out with a punch theres a small slot for the sight to sit in | |||

There are many gunsmiths who do an excellent job of replacing stock sights on 1911s.
