If she likes the feel she may be able to throw it pretty good than. You don't want any doubts if you are going to carry a gun for self defence. If you are stuck on the .380, maybe consider sig or walther. personally i thing a good quality revolver for the wife is a good choice. no slide to rack and do you really need more than 5 or 6 in a selfdefence situation.

Neither the Bersa or .380 would be my first choice but if you have a budget it's better than nothing. I've read a lot of bad things about the Bersa here but the one I've been exposed to was reliable. Not to say you want fish instead of steak, but have you looked into .38 short barrels?

I picjked up a bersa 380 about an hour ago. Cleaned it up andn it shoots surprisingly well. I might keep it for myself and let the wife keep the stubby revolver I carry sometimes. Its simple and easy. The 380 has a few quirks that you could forget if you didnt shoot it much. Its pretty accurate, I mean surprisingly accurate at 10 yards. I figure if I carry it and leave it in th etruck for some reason and it gets stolen, I wont be near as upset as i would with my 9 or 45. thanks for all the input.

The only thought I had would be the safety which could be engaged at the worst time. With a revolver it is point and shoot. My wife carries a Smith hammerless and I think I will get her an airweight as the weight was her only concern.

A favorite carry gun of mine is my Smith Airweight....I had the hammer bobbed and a trigger job done to make it really smoooooth.
In my Mernickle holster it is a pleasure to carry.

I have the Bersa 380 CC which is a Slimmed down version of the Thunder 380. I picked it up new for $299 and have been very impressed by the performance and accuracy of that shooter. About a month ago I picked up the Firestorm 22lr 3.5" barrel which is just about a carbon copy of the Bersa. Those Firestorm 22's are hard to come by but wonderful little shooters for a pocket gun and a great way to shoot for pennies in a model like the .380.

The guys that I've talked to all seem a little hesitant to endorse the Bersa line, until they actually have some experience with them. Kinda like Hotsh#t is here on these boards. A off duty cope that I was talking to said that his Bersa out performed his Sig 230 and wishes that he still had it. Bersa has out now a 380+ which is a stack magazine with 15 rounds in it.

There has been a lot of focus on the 380 caliber lately with a lot of mouse guns coming out in that caliber. What that has done is caused the ammo makers to ramp up the performance of that cartridge. I have been using some Buffalo Bore 380 auto +P 90 grains rounds in my Bersa CC and also a Kel Tec that I have in .380.

I would suggest a visit to Bersa Talk website and see what the general opinion is of these shooters. I am a fan. I really am tempted to buy a few more Bersa's in the .380 before there are any major price increases. I would love to see the Thunder 380 be recalibrated in a 9mm; they make a 9, 40, and 45 but it's in a different framed shooter.

My friend in Argentina, home of the Bersa, have not been impressed with them.....BUT, I am beginning to think that is because it is not a U.S. made pistol. Once this thread got going I have heard from several friends here who have nothing but good things to say about them.
