I'm looking to purchase a new Kahr in .45 and have been looking at these three models. I am really leaning towards the PM45 due to its compactness but the big difference in price compared to the CW45 has me thinking it would serve my purpose just as well. This will be for CCW.

What is the big difference in the three models to have such a wide price spread or is it just because CCW weapons are the hot seller right now that they "think" they cost more to build? I did notice the CW has conventional rifling vs. polygonal rifling of the P&PM series. I have heard you shouldn't shoot lead bullets through polygonal rifling....why?

Anyone own both/all of these models and could give me an opinion? I am in Northern MN and have traveled all over trying to find any of these and haven't had any luck. All the dealers that had any Kahr's only had the 9mm version. Ulness someone can really talk me into a 9mm I will stay with the .45. Driving to AZ on Friday and was hoping to find some shops along the way that I could look handle the different models before buying.
Thanks,
Keith

I'm not an expert on the Kahr, but I did get to try a friend's PM9. It had a good feel to it, and I like the slim (0.9") styling for CC.

I have read posts where some users said the .45 recoil was difficult to manage. You might also consider the .40. I don't remember anyone having a problem with it's recoil.

For the larger calibers, the all steel would most likely be better than the polymer (less felt recoil).

Thanks A/C guy for the links. I am currently carrying an Officers Model 45 and the darn thing is just getting to heavy for everyday carry. This is the main reason for looking at the polymer framed guns.
I had actually read differently though concerning the recoil. Most guys responded saying the .40 had a much snappier recoil than the .45. It really isn't an issue for me though as I have many heavy kicking handuns. .454,.44 mag, even a 10" barreled Contender in 444 Marlin.

Oh, I love the area you live in. We were stationed at Ft. Detrick, MD many years ago and I had a house in Carrol Valley with Friends creek in my backyard. Smiler

Butch,
I agree, the first time I handled one it just didn't feel right but after handling more I warmed up to it and can now bring it up quickly and be on target. At first they always pointed off to the side due to the way I am used to gripping my Officers Model. Just had to readjust the way I was doing things and I actually like the way it feels now. I love the samllness and light weight. Hopefullu I can learn to be 100% comfortable with it. I ordered a PM 45 and hopefully it will be in around the first of the year.
