Does anyone know who makes a bobbed or spurless hammer for the S&W Model 625 revolver? I would like to buy two of them.

I had thought of that of course, but I want to have one of each in case I want to change back. Which means I have to buy another hammer anyway. If there are already bobbed hammers out there, that's what I want to buy. Some revolver shooters here claim someone in the USA makes them, but I can't find them.

I have bobbed quite a few years ago and there seems to be more interest lately. I have not seen a commercially available bobbed hammer as of yet. I would get a factory hammer and have it modified.

Hammers are not a drop in replacement and must be fitted to function properly.

The latest S&W parts are ALMOST universally a drop in, the quality has been that good. I generally have found that the trigger(sear) and cylinder hand are the only parts That have needed any tuning when replacing Factory parts with Factory parts in smith revolvers.

Always best to have it checked as stated

I bobbed a hammer on a Mod. 60. It's case hardened, but not difficult if you are comfortable w/ working steel and polishing a finish. I checked w/ S&W before doing this. A new hammer was $35 about a decade ago. I never have felt a need to go back to a spur.
