Unless you are getting it for near nothing, there are far better rev. out. I find the Rossi near the bottom on the quality scale. Taurus is as low as I'll go, Rugers are better still, then S&W & Colt.

I was part of the investigation at a shooting 4 years back. The weapon was a new 2" rossi 5 shot revolver and ammo CCI .38spl lawman. Husband (a local politician) had shot his rather ample wife twice with his new revolver- where upon she hit him over the head with a blunt object- He is a now where he should be- lying in bed, unable to speak and relying on patronage for food. The doctor removed the two bullets from the wife in my presence. The base of one was still visible in her left breast and the one in the stomach had made it through the skin but not the fat.

There were virtually no rifling marks on the bullets- just gas blow by. Measured the bore .369" Measured the cylender throats .355"

Then Went and checked the other 20 or so that Harrisons (the agent) had in stock- All similar.

See my post on - the dark side of S&W - Revolvers of all makes often need some work. Old Taurus are an abomination before the Lord, and new Rossi's don't appear any better. There are also several cheep german revolvers (eg HG) in the same league.

The only Colt revolvers I have ever liked are the SAA- but Ruger, S&W, Dan Wesson, manhurian etc that are worth buying - even if they need some work. Better a second hand smith that needs re-timing than a rossi that will never work as needed.

The new Taurus and Astra revolvers are ok- they generally work fine but accuracy just isn't up to a smith or dan wesson.

PS- A few years ago Magnum Magazine carried a post about a new Rossi .357 that lasted 500 odd rounds before the barrel blew off.

irusto, the Rossi is cheap for a reason. QUality of mat'l. & workmanship is marginal at best. It's your money & you behind the gun, you decide. Me, I don't buy cheap guns or cheap tools, I buy stuff that will last after years of use. Buy a used Ruger for about the same price & it will probably out live you. Big Grin
