Have a friend that is looking at a Rock Island Armory 1911 ... anyone have any sense of the quality? Is supposed to be a military spec pistol.

Am concerned abt the quality of the internal parts too.

Thanks!

They are pretty well made. If you move up one level to the dovetail sights and beavertail, for only a few $$ more, its a great entry level gun.

I have one in 9mm and it has been utterly reliable. I have fed it all manner of ammo and it has fed, fired and ejected everything. Mine is the tactical model with the extended beavertail, match hammer and Novak sights. Best $400 I ever spent on a pistol.

This place has them at a good price.
