anybody know of a good S&W forum? I have this revolver I am curious about. It is a five screw, chambered in 45acp with moons, with a 5 1/2" barrel.

I believe it to be a commercial model, since it has a bright blue finish, that was a lend lease revolver. It has the flaming bomb ordnance stamp at the top left rear of the frame, and the little british proof behind the trigger guard. It has two serial numbers; a 101,xxx inside the frame, and a 127,xxx* on the butt. There was once a lanyard ring in the butt, but it was filled in.
It has the small grips that have the half-moon at the top.

thanks,

Rich

thanks, just went there. M1917, most likely WWI use.

Now to figure out a price. I am charged to sell it for a good friend's widow.

Rich, research the price on GunBroker and other gun sales forums, and then offer it for sale on the S&W Forum.

I had one with Stag grips that I liked a lot.

Cheers, John
