I've been having a debate with a few friends.

I've seen guns that needed new wheels because shooting Specials in Mags and such caused actual erosion where then you get bell mouthing of full length brass into the forward part of the wheel causing poor extraction. It wasn't fouling. I cleaned and measured.

People advocate some things like the .460S&W because you can shoot Casulls and LC in it, but then you'd be causing the above referenced problem. I've seen 5 guns in my life so far where this has happened from people using short brass instead of recoil reducing loads. I've seen it happen in .458 Lott rifles where people shot .458WinMags in them.

I reckon if you can afford a .460S&W or a Casull you should be able to afford using proper length brass for the lack of risk of destroying your chamber integrity.

Anybody else?

Could very well be with the higher power cals but I know of 10 thousands of rds of 38 shot in 357 with no more then fouling build up. A brass brush soon cleaned it. up
