I just picked up a mid 60's 3 screw Ruger single six and would like to replace the aluminum grip frame and ejector rod housing with steel. I see Brownell's has after market parts but I've heard Ruger Blackhawk steel grip frames will fit. Is this true and would they be available from Ruger? Thank you... Jon

You need to buy the Ruger Old Army grip frame. It is steel and of the 3 screw design. You will need to fit it and blue it as well. Brownell's, Midway, Gunparts Corp should have it. The trigger slot is wide and really looks best when fitted with the proper trigger, which, unfortunately is not available for the Single Six frame though Dave Clements makes them for the Blackhawk or one can get a used trigger from an Old Model Super Blackhawk. That said you original trigger will work fine with the OA grip frame. Here's an OA grip frame fitted to a custom 38 WCF Ruger of mine with Dave Clement's wide trigger.
