Consulting Supica's "Standard Catalog of S&W", the 66-2 was made from 1982 to probably sometime in 86 when the 66-3 came in. The "AETO" may be a special issue to a certain distributor or similar but I can't find it mentioned. (may be there, I'm not reading every word) For instance in 1985 they made a run of 3 inch barrels for Ashland Arms, with serial numbers beginning with "ALU". My general impression is that it would be worth somewhere between $600 and $800. If you have box and papers, a bit more. BUT let me hasten to add that I am not an expert on current Smith values.

After reading a bit further, the "AET" may be part of the Smith serial numbering system. They use similar on several other revolvers.

You might check with the guys on Smithandwessonforums.com There is not much about Smiths that someone on there doesn't know.
