Pistol shaving lead
Pistol is a Dan Wesson 357 Mag.It has a removable barrel. I am shooting 125 gr. Copper jackets bullets. It shaves copper/lead with every shot. Barrel gap is set at .006 in. with gauge. What to do to remedy the situation? Thanks , marlin55

have a smith look at it. Its probably out of time. Its not an overly expensive job to get it retimed

You can check timing yourself; hold the EMPTY rev. by the frame/cyl & slowly cock the hammer. The cyl. should rotate & lock. If you have to help it into lock, then one or more cyl. is out of time. If it is still in time, try setting the gap a bit closer to 0.005". You probably have some wear on the forcing cone. I have an old Ruger SBH that suffers from this problem & the only fix is refacing the forcing cone.
