I would get a speed loader and that's it. The M-57 is one of my favorites

Speed loader works great with the old pinned/recessed jug M57 and with the new flat 657.

I would be a little concerned that one would be lessening the support for the cartridge case just above the rim.

I can't think of anything I would much less rather do than screw up a fine old M57 by milling it for a moon clip.

I agree that a set of two speedloaders and PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE would be cheaper, preserve the originality and value of a fine gun, and be more effective.

Bought a spare cylender for one of my 629's and had that milled for full moon clips. For competition it is THE way to go! (BTW I only use it with .44 spl brass- .44 Mag brass is too long and the clip hangs up on the grip)

Sooo for the M57- not a great plan- The cases will not eject any better and a snarl up with a full moon clip is slower to clear than with a single case.

Also, in the bush I periodically like to mix and match ammo- and the .44 Shot shells available will not fit in a full moon clip! - bugger

Must say my old M58 is my favourite carry gun. So far got one ele, one buff, one hyaena standing on my bed and one nasty native with an AK who had just put a bullet through my shoulder. All one shot kills- Love IT

No Way would I chop a 57! Keep her as is!

For everyday shooting, with practice, speedloaders will suffice just as well as moonclips. The only benefit to moonclips from a standpoint of speed is in competitive shooting. And I doubt you'll be shooting that 57 in a match. As for a real world need for a very fast reload? If a bear or a buff or any other critter were coming for you, you probably won't have the time to reload before you are obliterated anyway. If so, as good a cartridge as it is, you won't find me in dangerous game country with a .41 as my stopping gun. Get something with more frontal diameter and heavier bullets!!
