TransvaalUpdate photos of .38-55 double rifle building..
Can I attach photos to a post direct from my computer without using a service like photobucket to this forum, now? If so, how.
I have finished the engraving on my latest double rifle (that I have posted on in the past) and I would like to let you see it.

I don't think there is a way to do it directly. You can email the pics to me at wojo@gci.net and I'll put them up for you.
Cheers

TransvaalFrost;
Thank you for your kind offer. I can attach them the via the old method, just thought the forum maybe had caught up with technology.

LR3Transvaal Steve. That's incredibly beautiful engraving. With the name Transvaal do you sometimes engrave a Barberton Daisy? (:-))

LHeym500Thank you for sharing. Is the rifle in the white or stainless steel. Please forgive my ignorance.

The barrels are polished to 1,000 grit ready for rust blacking. Stippling on the quarter rib and front ramp. The action and associated parts are French Gray that has been softened from its darker color, although they are darker than this photo shows.
I will begin blacking the barrels soon. I should have had them so by now, but when I began to mix my chemicals for the rust blacking my container of Ferrous Chloride had hydrated and I had to order some more.

LR;
The name is a result of my living in South Africa for a short time, as I suspect you thought might be the case.

Colin MastersYou should be very proud, that is a rifle I would be proud to own, much less build.

The .38-55 McPherson cartridge is a longer case version of the standard .38-55 Winchester. To make it an "Express" I "wildcatted" the loading to higher pressure near or beyond it's standard limits (hence the large breech end of barrels) and uses a 255 grain Hawk or Barnes bullet to produce 1,975 fps.

LHeym500Thank you Transvaal. I think there is an eland out there not too happy with you. You will have to teach him a lesson.
