Anyone have a ballpark figure for what this might be worth? 475 #2, boxlock made by W J Jeffery and was made 80 to 100 years ago? Just curious if anyone has an idea. Thanks. Larry Sellers SCI(International)Life Member Sabatti 'trash' Double Shooter R8 Blaser DRSS

Condition of bores and whether or not on-face would be just about everything in terms of price. If bores are excellent and it is on-face I would expect mid-$20s. ...IF it's regulation bullet weight is 480 - 500 grains. IF it's regulated for a "light" load, value would be a fair bit lower. D/R Hunter Correct bullet placement, combined with the required depth of bullet penetration, results in an anchored animal...

Ian Nyschens said in the interview with Buzz that if he had to do it all over again it would be with a 475 no 2 or something in the 500 class.

+1 Owain Lewis hunted with exactly such a rifle. It was a real beuaty. I hope it ends up in good hands - it certainly deserves it!

If a Jeffery then I would think that it would be a .488 diameter 500 grain. If ejectors then I think that the mid 20's all other factors considered such as bore condition and on face. Dutch

My favorite cartridge, by the way as well as a favorite of Hunter's along with his .500 NE. Dutch

Thanks for all the input folks. I'll try and get more info from my friend as it is he who has the interest and line on this. Off the subject a little, but has anyone heard the story of a guy who bought a gun from the cops? They thought it was a shotgun, turned out to be a double rifle of significant value??? Larry, Champlin Arms currently has a W J Jeffery in .475 No. 2 on the website; I think it was in the low $20s. 475 #2 or 475 #2Jeffery? .483 or .488 Caliber? Rusty We Band of Brothers! DRSS, NRA & SCI Life Member "I am rejoiced at my fate. Thanks to all who responded. My friend, checked the bores, on face, tightness etc and went forward on the purchase. He paid just a tad under 5K for his "new" double. He has contacted the Factory and they are running a check to put together some history on this rifle for him, as it is thought to be 80 to 100 years old. Might be some INTERESTING tales attached to this piece? It may also go to the factory for a tune up and overall checkup in the near future. Sounds like one heck of a deal to me? May get to see/touch/feel it later this year? Larry Sellers SCI(International)Life Member Sabatti 'trash' Double Shooter R8 Blaser DRSS

Larry- excellent cartridge and all in the same range of the 470, 465, 500-450,etc. If it is a Jeffery, most of the work is done up in Oregon now...so a tune up is not to pricey!! Cheers, 470EDDY

Good grief!!! That's a steal. I have a friend made a similar deal on a Stephen Grant 577 at Cabella's for $5,000. Why can't these deals fall in my lap? ND Stephen Grant 500BPE Joseph Harkom 450BPE
