Gentlemen, I recently bought an Army Navy 470 and wondered if anyone could help with the date of manufacture and who made it. It is built on a Webley action so I'm guessing it is a Webley built gun. The serial # on the flats is 45,9xx an on the forend hook is 12,4xx. Any help would be appreciated. Will get pics when the weather warms up a little. Thanks Fred DRSS Member | ||

It was built or rather put together by Army Navy, most every one Ive seen was built around a Webley action..I have owned several but much of what I should recall has dived into the darkness of the computer we call a brain, the answers are they just can't pull them up anymore!! trust me, ya'll will be there sooner than you think... The Army Navy in a .470 is indeed a rare bird..I had three Army Navys in 450-400-3"..One in 3.25" N.E. and one in very rare 577 N.E, that had a broken stock, belonged to PH Berry Van Heerden. I sold it for him to a Boise Gun Dealer for $8000 at his direction, I should have bought it myself..Buyer stuck a threaded nut through the stock glassed it together, and it looked good..Don't know where it went from there..
