This is not a double rifle question, but I figured more expertise here than anywhere else. A friend has this old BP shotgun with damascus barrels. On either side of the receiver is the name B. Redfern. On the top rib it reads something like "B. Redfern 110 Oxford London, England" and then something like "Laminated Barrels Indestructible by Gun Powder". These aren't exact quotes of the engraving, but similar at least. The gun has decent wood and some fairly ornate metal work. There is a length of metal from the hole in the forearm where the ramrod goes with engraving, probably extending 6" toward the the rear. The bottom tang or trigger guard is extended probably 4" or so and engraved. There was some other engraving and metal work, but I only looked at it for a few minutes Friday morning. He picked it up at an estate sale a couple years ago and has had no luck tracking down information on the gun or the maker. Also, there are no serial numbers or the like on the gun. He had the stock off to clean/check condition and found nothing of the sort. This fellow is very gun savvy, so he'd know what he was looking for. Anybody have any ideas about this shotgun or the maker? Thanks fellows, David Walker

Jeff, Thanks a lot. That shotgun appears to be almost identical to the one my friend has. The one my friend has is in better overall condition, IMO, than this one. The metal is much cleaner and the engraving and lettering on the rib much deeper and more legible. The marking on the rib is identical, but I'm not so sure about the font style, it seems different. This is a great help and I will forward this link to him by email. Thanks again, David Walker
