I'm Going to work on some .470 loads with 500 grain Barnes TSX. However, the length of the TSX from the top grove is about .750" where the Woodleigh is only about .610. To those who shoot Barnes, are you seating them to that first grove, and if so, what is the OAL of the shell with that treatment? Thanks all for your information.

You sure you want to shoot those in a double?

I know many who do and swear by them. I would argue they're the best all around bullet made and would love to be able to shoot them.

What does the Barnes book say? Similar to this? http://www.loaddata.com/member....cfm?MetallicID=4690 NRA Life ASSRA Life DRSS Today's Quote: Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Give a man a welfare check, a free cell phone with free monthly minutes, food stamps, section 8 housing, a forty ounce malt liquor, a crack pipe and some Air Jordan's and he votes Democrat for a lifetime.

The book says 3.980 max which is a hair longer than my cases would be. However, that's a bunch longer than they would be with a more round nosed bullet.

But it's not a round nosed bullet! If all else fails, smoke the bullet and seat long adjusting til it doesn't contact the throat and check length, the old fashioned way. I agree, great bullets but I am too paranoid about OSR to shoot them in my double. I figure better safe than sorry but perhaps many do with no issues. Only Woodlieghs for me.
