I just got my first double rifle. It is a UGEX Chapuis 9.3X74R.

Ken (www.kebcollc.com) was a great help in making the decision about which rifle to choose and easy to deal with during the course of the purchase. I also got a lot of valuable info from posters on this forum (thank you all).

I was able to shoot a 1 inch 2 shot 50 yard group off the bench with open sights using Norma factory ammo. The 286 grain oryx averaged 2260fps on my chronograph. Off the shooting sticks the groups were 2 to 3 inches. I think I can do better once I get it scoped.

The action is a little stiff to open like some others have posted here but I think it is getting easier the more I use it.

I really like shooting the Chapuis and can't imagine a better "entry level, affordable" double rifle. I think I may have a new addiction. I fear that future "fixes" may not be so affordable.

Congratulations!

Just beware - just one double gets awfully lonely all by itself. Pretty soon, you're going to have to find it another double to keep it company.

You hit the nail on the head. Nearly everything else worth having will cost 50-100% more.

Now, Paul. let's not forget how "special" Doc is. Besides, some guys find the need to sneak a millimeter in whenever they can.
