Nice clamshell with cool engraving! Driven boar hunter's dream!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

While I love pre war doubles from the UK, I have also admired the clamshell actions. They are just too cool.
What info have you gathered on this beauty?

Some visual history:

I understand it hasn't been used for 50-60 years. That will all change this fall.

It'll belong to a dirt-poor commoner who will get it back into the field soon and from now on, then by my Nimrod-grandson, Owen, "Nimrod" being a very positive term.

Weight is about 8 pounds, sans scope.
