I've recently acquired a H&H 500/465 and have been shooting superior handloads in woodleigh softs and solids. Can anyone share a comparable handload with me.

BH: Welcome to AR. Here is a link to a discussion on NitroExpress regarding loads for the H&H 500/465: H&H 500/465 Loads Hope it helps. 577NitroExpress Double Rifle Shooters Society Francotte .470 Nitro Express If stupidity hurt, a lot of people would be walking around screaming...

Also welcome you to the Board. I handload for the parent of your 500/465, a 500/450 that is very close using a 3-1/4" case and bullets of .458 diameter. Key is not to be fixed on reaching published velocity, but rather to search for the best composite group from both barrels. Mine does about three inches at 100 yards with iron sights. Velocity is just over 2,000 fps with about 97.5 grains of IMR 4831. The two elephants I've taken with the 1904-made H&H double did not seem to notice the missing 150 fps. Regards, Tim

Out of my 500/465 I get 2,140 with 99 grs of IMR 4831 and 3 grains of Dacron with Woodleigh 480 gr softs. It regulates as well. 465H&H
