Mike BrooksI'd say your sucess has more to do with the hunter and caliber! Both brands of rifles have a good repuation.

NitrodaveI have a Searcy 470NE and think it is very well made. Both the Searcy and Merkel doubles have a good reputation for accuracy and function. Neither has the romance of the old English guns, but some people are not into that stuff. Butch Searcy has an unmatched reputation for his service, and stands behind all his guns.

AkshooterI think your Merkel will continue to serve you well.
I got mine about 15 years ago and taken lots of game with it and I have done a lot of range shooting with it. mine still works just fine and the thing that is amazeing about that is that it was fifty three years old when I got it.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. Price wise I believe the Merkel to be a better choice and value especially if you live in Sweden. Love your caliber also the 500 is a great caliber.
