Further to my last posting about an old 375 H&H Flanged Double that belonged to my grandfather. Here is Part II.

Having finally imported the rifle it lay in my gun safe for many years. A few years ago we decided to have it completed restored and sent it off to JJ at Champlin. The rifle has finally returned and JJ has done a super job with the complete restoration. I will let the photos speak for themselves.

It has not been hunted since it returned in January but Africa now lies in its future and perhaps a Lion!!

Before the restoration

After the restoration

We decided to scope it and used claw mounts

Ready to go!

The pair of 375 H&H cartridges - Flanged Magnum on the left and the more popular Rimless cartridge on the right.

One last photo from the old days. My father's bag from one day! The bison (gaur) and sloth bear were taken with the 375 H&H double, the panther and spotted deer with his 9x57 mauser, pictured on the left.

Thanks for posting this! That is impressive and an incredible piece of family history. The best part to me is that you're still adding to that history today. What will your grandchildren think when they see your hunting photos? Well done! tu2

I wonder why Hornady choose to offer the 9.3R and not the 375R? Maybe both some day?

That is a great rifle and it's great to see it brought back to condition by a master of the trade.

Keep asking them in calls or email they need to fell like thyere is a market. That is why they brought out the outher NE calibers.

...very nice...nothing like a historical link to the family past through a treasured sporting arm...note what appears to be the excellent mounting of the claw bases...may i inquire about jj's price for this embellishment?...
