Okay, I am thinking of purchasing another double (I am addicted okay!) and I would like to know the opinions of the Board on to have a cheek-piece on the stock or to NOT have a cheek-piece on the rifle stock? *I have a double currently that has a cheek-piece and I do like it and I understand there are disadvantages on scoping the rifle without one.... I like the "classic look" of older doubles...did they all come with cheeck-pieces? Thanks.

No, quite a few came without. I prefer a cheek piece, but it isn't a big deal. One of my British guns was built without one. -------------------------------------------------- "Serious rifles have two barrels, everything else just burns gunpowder."

My old English Double has a cheek piece and the Chapuis 9.3X74R I ordered will have the same style cheek piece. Most of my bolt action rifles have some style of cheek piece on them. IMO, If the rifle you are looking at has one, great. If not, no big deal. If you are ordering a rifle, it should have a "pancake" cheek piece. FWIW, JPK Free 500grains

My William Douglass does not have one and looks great without it. I think this would appeal to booth left and right handed shooters. It did for me. 505ED DRSS Member

I ordered my Chapuis without a cheek piece as I am left handed. My thoughts are as much as I change rifles it would make the rifle appealing to all the right handed folks as well. My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.
