First, due to the low comb I added one of those leather cheek pieces to help aline my eye sight with the Ultradot mounted on the rail. Next the rifle was dropped off to my local gunsmith 2 weeks ago and asked him to do the best he could with the triggers and to disable the automatic safety. Wasnt expecting much to be honest.
Six days later it was ready for pickup. When I went to pick it up he said he was sorry but the triggers were a little lighter than requested. Am guessing they break at 3 pounds. And they have ZERO and I mean zero creep. He said being as light as they were he was afraid of it doubling. Last night was the first opportunity to shoot it and I ran 30 rounds through it pretty quick and it didnt double.
Charged me $135 for everything and left me very impressed with his work.

For under $1K total investment ended up with a double rifle equipped with a 30mm Ultradot that has superb triggers and will shoot 4 shots (2 from each barrel) into 1.25 inches at 50 yards with 220 Hornady round nose bullets. Best part is I can regulate the rifle anytime the load needs to be changed. However the 220 grain interlocks at 2,300-2,400 fps seem like a perfect marriage.

Nope, its not a Searcy, Heym, or Chapuis. But I can carry it anywhere and abuse the hell out of it and not have to worry about scratches or rust. And its cheap to shoot!

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

Nice score. I love mine. I didn't get a trigger job but just cleaning the goo out of the action helped immensely. 30 rounds quick Eeker ? She must have been smoking hot! Without gloves I can't go more than 8rds without letting her cool off.

Quick wasnt a good word. 6 shots then let her cool, then another 6, etc. They do get hot fast thats for sure.

Just got my 45-70 SPR-22 back this week from my gunsmith, who installed a new Kick-Eze recoil pad. What a refreshing change - almost 1/2" longer LOP and fits so much better. Soft pad is a tremendous improvement over the hard rubber one it had. Half a dozen 405's were almost pleasant this afternoon!

Not much helpful info for you. Ended up getting a steal of a deal at 10 boxes of factory green/yellow for $20 per box. When I get half of them shot up, I will start reloading and try to find a good hard cast bullet that will group. My son has some good loads for his TC Contender that are candidates.

Blank-

Was that recoil pad a drop-in or was it custom fitted?

Grind to fit. He took the largest and thicker one, and charged me $20 to do it.
