Anyone tried Northfork bullets in their Chapuis 9.3?

I would not use their Soft in a Chapuis, this is direct from the former owner, and I agree.

Their solid should be ok as the shank of the bullet does not touch the barrel, only the ridges.

I have used them in my 450 No2.

However a 286gr Woodleigh Solid gives plenty of penetration on elephant, buff and giraffe.

Let me add that I have had excellent results on small and large big game with the 286 Woodleigh Soft and the 286 Nosler Partition.

I have usd several different bullets but these 2 are my favorites.

I have softs in 375, 45, 30 cal, & 7mm, they all ride the ridges of the bullet, they do not engrave the bullet itself.
Not unless they changed them from 2 years ago.

I thought the NF soft and Solid both had similar designs and could both be used in a double. I have not tried the sofe in any doubles however....I would have never thought it would be a problem. Tony would you elaborate more on what you were told?

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! Hey Roscoe, I'm not Tony, but I can tell you what Tony is eluding to, with the NF soft point.

The soft point doesn't have the pressure ring design ove all the solid bareing surface. These rings are from the base of the bullet to about half way up to the nose, but the solid shank goes higer up toward the nose, leaving about 1/4" od solid shank without the rings. On both the CPS, and PFS all the bareing surface is pressure ringed. I wouldn't use the soft point NF in a Chipuis, or any other double rifle, however, the CPS &FPS are fine for anydouble IMO!

Thanks Mac, I guess I just assumed that the pressure rings were all the way up to the Lead portion of the bullet. I am not sure I have seen any posts on this topic.
I wonder if the new owners would consider a design change on a few calibers, like the 9.3 to allow them to be used in doubles. Seems like a minor adjustment.

Rosco go to the North Fork Technologies web-site, and click on the Frequintly asked questions. There is a cut-away of the soft point there that shows how far the rings go up from the base of the bullet toward the lead core. The things might be OK but I wouldn't risk a good double rifle for the benifit. The nosler partition is a real work of art in the 9.3X74R double rifle!
