J White Gunsmithing - Double Rifle Disaster
Eric, I don’t have a double rifle made on a shotgun at this time but I built two double rifles on Browning BSS 20 ga actions a few years ago, and one on a Larona 20 ga . They were made on a mono-block made from the shot barrels. I have owned two others made on shot guns as well one on a Winchester 101 O/U, and another made on an SKB 20 ga O/U. Properly done they make fine double rifles as long as you use quality actions to start with. Searcy started that way with BSS actions and I have never seen one of those fail. His rifles today are made from scratch, and are as good as they can be made for the price he charges. It all depends on who does the work, and the action used! It is not all bad if done properly! Mr. Smith did not do it properly! Case closed on his work!
