Long 2 weeks of too many continuous hours so slept in ... until 6AM when one of my little dogs (223lbs) decided it was time to get up ... Looks like you'll be needing ice on that shoulder if you shoot all of that lineup more than a few times.

Doc, looks like you'll have the planet covered with that line-up !

Biebs, Just gotta work on the small end of the scale though the 600NE causes very litle meat and fur damage on rabbits and such. NRA Lifer; DSC Lifer; SCI member; DRSS; AR member since November 9 2003 Don't Save the best for last, the smile for later or the "Thanks" for tomorow

I've never used those 560g Hawks (.035" jacket) but if they're anything like the 650g Woodleigh BPE out of the 585AHR, water jugs and mellons will make quite a big spalsh when the nephews take aim during our annual camping trip to the Catskills NRA Lifer; DSC Lifer; SCI member; DRSS; AR member since November 9 2003 Don't Save the best for last, the smile for later or the "Thanks" for tomorow

Maybe I should get a 600, my 450NE just plain messes up tree squirrels. Of course it does create something of a stunning visual display and they do tend to "fly" like their distant cousins. Doc: I was wondering, in your .577 do you have to seat the CEB#13s and non cons that deeply go get them to work? Hi Dave, Actually no - the two brass CEBs were already loaded by someone else. I always seat them so the edge of the case is between the first and second bands as in the copper CEB #13 in that line up. That's what I've done for the 600, 450/400, 375 and this 577. No issues so far. Stay well and thanks Paul NRA Lifer; DSC Lifer; SCI member; DRSS; AR member since November 9 2003 Don't Save the best for last, the smile for later or the "Thanks" for tomorow

Paul: Can you post a picture close up of your loaded ammo again? I load mine all the way up to the last cannelure, almost where there are none showing. Based on the few rounds I tested for both solids and non-cons, I obtained better accuracy with them seated deeper, which I also found to be the case with TSXs in that they like to be seated deeper. jorge USN (ret) DRSS Verney-Carron 450NE Cogswell & Harrison 375 Fl NE Sabatti Big Five 375 FL Magnum NE DSC Life Member NRA Life Member

Jorge, My 500 VC likes the CEBs seated deep also. I crimp over the top band. With the top band up I was getting 3 to 4 inch groups at 50 yards. With top band below crimp I am getting under 2 inch groups. My 500 Sabatti doesn't really care and I crimp with top band out. Every double is different so if you aren't shooting like you want try many things until you get what you want. You might remember when Michael458 worked up that WW760 load for my Sabatti and shot a beautiful 1.5 inch group with it. When I shot the same load I was shooting 3 inches apart. After much tinkering I have found the with RL-15 in the Sabatti I'm getting 1.5 inch groups at 50 yards. Don't give up if one load doesn't shoot. Sam

Hi Jorge, I'll try to do so this weekend. Sam's right, though - seating depth definitely affects accuracy. In fact, Gerard at GSC describes as much on his website. So far I have had good results seating so that the case edge is just inder the bottom of the uppermost band but the 577 that should arrive tomorrow or early next week may prefer something different. I'll ttry to get those photos posted for you. Sam and Jorge, My 500NE Merkel likes the CEBs with the top band out. At 50 yards, the two barrels just touch, like this: My 9.3X74R Chapuis also likes the top band out. At 50 yards, I get about 3/4" like this:

Hey Jorge, Yes, I have the entire top band above the mouth of the case; Here are magnified versions of the 577 and 600 from the line-ups above (sorry if they "dress to the right" a bit): NRA Lifer; DSC Lifer; SCI member; DRSS; AR member since November 9 2003 Don't Save the best for last, the smile for later or the "Thanks" for tomorow

Doc Can not believe Biebs was taking that gun with him while he was cutting wood to shoot chipmunks Larry

Larry, Biebs' 577 was so slathered with drool that I had to trade it to Ken for the one in the photo. Teardrops, extended top tang, upgraded wood, Cape buffalo engraving. It would have cost me more to have Biebs' 577 sanitized than this upgrade cost me. BTW, That group of 8 shots were four CEB#13 solids and 4 Non-Cons. Sam had loaded these with 120g RL-15 and velocity for the solids was 1,980fps with the Non-Cons 36fps faster all out of my 24" barrels. Once again, despite differences in weight - 750g vs. 700g - the CEB bullets go to the same POA. The two higher shots were GS Custom 640g FN copper solids that I had loaded over 144g of N550 for 2,115fps NRA Lifer; DSC Lifer; SCI member; DRSS; AR member since November 9 2003 Don't Save the best for last, the smile for later or the "Thanks" for tomorow
