If you will to to YouTube and search for this: "Hirschjage in den Schottischen Highlands" you will see 3 videos of this title. Pick the one with 24:27 (minutes/seconds) and watch a lady kill two stags with one shot kills with her double rifle of 8x57jrs caliber. By the way, a lot of excellent videos by this TV magazine on YouTube, and you do not need to understand German language in order to understand what they are saying and doing--if you are an outdoorsman, or outdoorsperson.

Brings back god memories. Can't wait to go back. Now that was a well regulated DR and those young ladies handles it well. Nice stags, great countryside, and good shooting with a classic rifle. The 8X57JRS (.323) and the 8X57JR (.318) are both very good rounds for this type of hunting! I have a cape gun chambered for the 8X57JR (.318), that being a H. Berrela 16 Ga/8X57JR(.318)side by side and the other is a Sauer drilling being a 16G/8X57JRS (.323). both shooting 196 gr bullets. I have found over the years both rounds are very well suited for anything up to and including Moose, and Grizzly. Iv'e had no problem getting one shot kills on Mule deer and prong horn out to 250/300 yds. You are right those two girls handle that double rifle very well! ……………………………………………………………………….. ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith

I'll bet that all that shooting was done with one barrel. Quick, Cheap, or Good: Pick Two

Well with the cape guns and double shotgun drillings it would track that all the rifle shots were from one barrel, no other choice. However if you are talking about the girls with the double rifle, it could still be true, but the rifle they were shooting is a brand that I own two of, one chambered for 9.3X74R, and the other for .470NE, and there is no need to shoot only one barrel of them, because they are regulated properly, and one barrel shoots the same as the other for one/two tap. right and left with the same hold for both shots! …………………………………………. ...………….. ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith

I love my 8x57 Mauser, I shoot the 160 gr. Barnes TTSX BT, its fast and will penetrate as well as any 200 gr. bullet..CFE223 at 2800 plus some FPS..and in a rifle that is manlicher stocked 22 inch barrel, very light rifle with integral rib, acorn bolt etc, whats not to like. The caliber is as good, some claim better than a 30-06, but that's just delusional owner pride popping out.. they are the full equal of each other, and that's no light praise..
