I might add that all the BS about O&U's not being as fast or easy to load as a S&S is pure bunk when it comes to a well designed O&U like the Zoli. It is true that the O&U must open to a slightly wider arc but what matters is how far they actually open. I have used quite a few English and contenental S&S rifles that barely open far enough to load while the Zoli rifles drop wide open so it is easy to quickly drop in two rounds. Phil, I have little doubt you do reload your Zoli quite rapidly, considering what your usual target is! One thing I would like to ask you is, what is your re-load procedure? How is your re-load ammo carried, for quick access, and do you reload both barrels simultaneously or one barrel at a time when you are in a real hurry? Do you re-load with your trigger hand or forehand? Have you timed your four shot string placing all four shots on target at 25 yards? If so what was the time? I ask this because that is the distance where the very efficient re-loading of the double is most often needed. I have both types of double rifles and I find I can re-load my SxSs far faster than my O/Us. I can get off two, break, and reload two anf fire them all on target in 4 seconds of less. With My O/Us the time jumps to over 5 seconds, sometimes more, depending on rifle having iron sights or scope! Most people scope their O/U double rifles. I could be wrong but I don't think you scoped your Zoli, which IMO was a good move for your job of back-up! This is not a confrontational post but one of genuine interest of information from a pro hunter who has most likely been in the tight needing a fast re-load many times! ……………………………………………. ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith

i di not scope any of my doubles with the zoli 9.3x74R i can hit a cd at 100 thats good enough for me.the second shot hit the edge but it still hit it,the best part about the zoli is that the trigger group comes out for easy cleaning no other double does that DRSS,SCI. Mac, I did not time myself so can not say whether or not I am slower or faster with an O&U or SxS but with ammo in a pouch on my left side I find it easier - and it feels faster - to pick up two rounds with my thumb behind and index, middle and ring fingers holding them on top and then dropping them in the chambers in one motion. it is a lot faster than telling about it. with the O&U the motion feels quicker as it requires less twisting of my arm or wrist. If you look at my feature in the current RIFLE magazine you can see how I do it. Thanks Phil, The new Zolis are tempting, and like you I like the removable trigger group, especially for Alaska! ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith
