I have been trying to get a response back from EAW, the German company that makes scope bases for rifles, regarding a mount to attach my Bushnell TRS 25 red dot sight to my Merkel 141E double rifle. I have e-mailed the company six times in the past three weeks and have not yet heard from them. You would think if a company advertises a customer service e-mail, they would resopnd to the e-mail. I am very disapointed in EAW and if this is the service one can expect, I will not be buying their product. I wanted to let you folks know this because this is the only way I can get back at the company for shoddy service. Maybe if they see this e-mail, they might straighten out their customer service department. Not exactly. I have never received any email back from Talley when I have sent an email. Yet when I get a chance to call them I usually talk to Gary and my question gets answered in about 30 seconds. Keep in mind that while you expect an email to get to its recipient, there is NO guarantee that it does so. I would be willing to bet that more emails do not make it to their recipient these days than mail by post, my experience is an example. Black lists, junk mail filters and content filters all nab emails that should do through. Email is an a 'connectionless' type of communication, you send a letter but they have no idea it's coming so if your message gets stuck in a filter, they don;t know to go looking for it. Before you write off EAW, pick up the damn phone and call them. If you wrote your email in English, then you expect someone there to speak english well enough to answer a technical question, thus, you should likely expect someone to speak English they answer the phone. Just keep saying "Sprechen zie English?" Until you get someone. Technology is a wonderful thing, when it works. I think in this case, a low-tech solution is better than a high-tech one. Cheers

EAW sells mostly to gunshops in Europe, they are not used to deal with individuals. You might try MAK instead. www.kilic-feintechnik.de

I am assuming that you are in the US. I purchased my EAW mounts from New England Custom Gun. http://www.newenglandcustomgun.com/ ____________________________________________ "Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. I am writing from Canada. EAW has an English website. EAW has a website for customers, not retailers. I started with New England Gun Shop but the gentleman I was dealing with didn't seem to know if the part I needed would be the part that would fit. This tells me he has no samples on-site and will just order the part and tag on his percentage. EAW makes a mount that allows one to mount a red dot sight with a weaver base to the base that comes with the Merkel 141E. The fellow at New England Custom Gun did not know if the mount needed an additional piece to mount my Bushnell TWS25 red dot sight to my rifle; and he didn't seem too interested in finding out. But he was quite quick to suggest I buy a Docter Optic sight and mounting plate to fit it to my Merkel. I tried to phone EAW in Germany but could not get through. I tried three different numbers and not one would connect. Oh well, I will try Recknagel and MAK. Thanks for the help gents. Boy, did I screw up: It seems the reply from EAW was sent to my delete file instead of my inbox. I do not have any idea how that happened. Anyway, EAW responded on 13 May. So moderator, would you please delete this post so that I no longer slander the good name of EAW. So, what did they say? Do they have it for the Merkel? And if so, what do they have?

Carp, we all make mistakes. That being said, I thought all along that you might want to hold your powder a bit longer. Trial by internet is not a pretty thing. Lesson learned friend. Merkel USA sells mounts for the 141. I believe they are Recknagel brand but they will fit the Docter optic so probably others too. It costs about $145. Quick, Cheap, or Good: Pick Two
