I have a new to me Chaupis Safari Express rifle. Do I need to release the cartridge ejectors when I put it together the first time? The receiver face doesn't have any marks where the ejectors hit so, I want to make sure I'm not doing something wrong when I put it together the first time. I'm guessing there is a release somewhere I need to hit because they seem to be locked in place Best Regards, Sid All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it. Hey Sid, I'm not the best person to answer this but based on my expreience the extractors/ejectors are seated firmly in their seats on the barrels until the barrels are assembled to the receiver. Once the barrels are mated to the receiver, the forearm attached and the action opened, the extractors/ejector will extend. Thanks! I finally got it together. Everything is very very tight. I think I might not have had it fully seated in the hinge the first time I tried it. The forearm would not seat properly as well. The humidity is way up and it seems like the wood swelled a little bit. When I squeezed it into the barrels FIRMLY along its entire length, it latched on its own with that final squeeze. This new rifle really needs some break in before I take to the field. It makes a brand new O/U shotgun seem sloppy loose in comparison!
