I met my gun club guy and did the FFL transfer.
Now all I need to do is try to put it together.
It is a side by side, which has a take-down feature where the barrel assembly can be totally separated from the stock-breech assembly.
It came in a short take-down case and the two parts are not assembled.
There are no instructions on the assembly technique, so I will need to figure that out.
Probably not much of a challenge.
Then I will need to fondle it awhile.

Should be just like a SxS shotgun.

take the fore end off the barrels-

(a latch of some type will be present)

Carefully line up the barrels and the action-

Deflect the top lever on the action and attach the barrels-

Lock the barrels to the action by allowing the lever to lock-

then place on the fore end-carefully -

depends on what type of fore end latch you have to secure this

Thanks Duggaboye,
I never had a SxS shotgun, so I'm not familiar with those either.
Maybe soneone with a Searcy can indicate whether there is any kind of "trick" to the assembly.

Like Duggaboye said. Remove the wood forearm from the barrel set. Place barrels in the reciever and close the action, then re-attach the forearm.

If you can't figure it out stop by any gunshop and I'm sure they'll show you.

I have had several Searcy rifles there is no secret. It assembles and disassembles just like any other SXS weapon.

1.Take off the forend. There is a little latch at the front on the forend pull it down this will release the fore end wood from the barrels.

2. Take the receiver, that's the part with the butt stock and the triggers. Move the top latch, that is the lever on the top of the receiver, to the right or if the rifle is left handed move it to the left.

3. Look down at the receiver where the flat part is with the slots cut into it move the top latch again and watch the stuff down in the slots move.

4. Now look at barrels on the back at the bottom they have a couple of things hanging down those things fit into that "stuff" that moves.

5. Now move the top latch and place those hangy down things into the slots. The barrels should be pointed down like when the gun is in the open position.

6. Once everything mates up you can close the action by pivoting the barrels up and letting go of the top latch.

7. Now install the forend by placing the back of the forend (that's the metal part) against the receiver the receiver end is convex the receiver end is concave that fit together perfectly. Once you place those two pieces together pivot the the forend so that it mates with the barrels you'll hear the forend latch snap into place. Once again the barrels will have a hangy downy thingy that fits into a slot in the forend.

If unable to get to go PM me and I'll send you pictures.

Is there anybody in your club who has a side by side shotgun? If so have them show you they work exactly the same.

Bob, it is clear the gun is defective and essentially worthless. Send it to me and I will send you my Model 70 in .375. Bolt guns are far more forgiving.

Mr. Nisbet, The drill for putting the double rifle together is as follows:

#1
take the barrels of your Searcy out of the case and look at the breech end ( Chamber end) where you will see the under lugs called LUMPS!

The hook is on the muzzle end of the lumps. Now if you look at the receiver, you will see a slot cut length wise down the middle with the front having a pin cross wise the round slot in the hook is placed in the slot so that this round hook hooks this pin. Now with the top lever pushed to the right rotete the barrels uo to close the breech and then release the top lever. The barrels are locked to the receiver.

Now you place the fore end wood under the barrels by opening the lever attachment in the bottom of the fore end wood

till the wood contacts the bottom of the barrels, then release the fore end lever. The top lever is an A&D lever like your Searcy.
(caution ) do not pull the triggers on empty chambers. You will need some snap caps for dry firing to avoid firing pin damage.

Take the rifle apart in the reverse!

Bob,

Be sure and put some high quality grease on the lugs of the barrel before using it much.
