Anyone have any load recipes they would like to share for reduced loads for the 500 Nitro Express?

I’d like to get used to my new double using reduced loads and work my way up to full power loads.

Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

75% rule--either way.
A. 75% of the bullet weight and full powder charge.
B. 75% of the powder charge and full bullet weight.

Or, use the nitro for black load which would equate to 55 grains of IMR 4198 and a 440-grain bullet.

Your rifle should regulate with A, should come close to regulation with B, and it's doubtful NFB will be accurate (but it may).

For no recoil reduced loads, you can go the Trail Boss route. That may not be what you're looking for but I shoot them from time to time just to stay familiar with operating the rifle.

The load formula is: Mark the brass where bottom of the seated bullet reaches. Then fill to that level with Trail Boss. Weigh that charge. Take 70% of that and that is your starting load. Max load is to fill to that same line but MAKE SURE TO NOT COMPRESS Trail Boss at all.

Regulation will likely be off but may be acceptable as it is in my gun.

I shoot a 450 grain Woodleigh soft over 86 gr of Reloader 15 with Kynoch foam filler over the powder ignited with any large rifle magnum primer.
