Anyone know where the C. Lancaster books are that may indicate date of manufacture, construction details and possibly who ordered it?
Thanks!
Jim

Atkin, Grant & Lang used to own the Charles
Lancaster name. They may have the books.
You can get them at www.atkingrantandlang.co.uk

No, not for a long time now. The various firms that AG&L had acquired since 1925 were pieced off in the early '80s. Cyril Adams bought AG&L then - but only those names, as he didn't want Watson, Lancaster, etc., and thus, never had those records. Cyril sold AG&L to Ken Duglan, the current owner, in 1999 IIRC. The only reason Ken would have the Lancaster records is if he acquired them in a recent separate transaction. Mike Louca bought Watson Brothers in 1984, and still operates that company. Charles Lancaster ended up with Brazier's (the Birmingham lockmakers) for a time, but was acquired by David Perkins in 1996. I don't know where they've gone since then. I've heard that recent attempts to locate them have been unsuccessful.

There is a Lancaster serial number table in Brown that would give you the rough date.

I was looking through the Charles Lancaster books a few weeks ago. The Charles Lancaster name and books has been aquired by Ronald Wharton (formerly from Rigby's). His website is www.charleslancastergunmakers.co.uk

I understand that a relaunch is on the near horizon.
