Jim M..500 3.25" Brass BPE
Does anyone know the thickness of Bertram brass? I am using HDS brass and must neck turn. My HDS brass measures 0.014 before any neck turning. I have turned to 0.010 with a .510 lead bullet gives 0.530 loaded diameter. Is there any other good brass available for this caliber?

MacD37Jim, is your rifle actually chambered for the 500 3.25"? Not many were, after smokeless powder! Most NE 500s are 3", could this be your problem?
The HDS brass is Bell, and is far better brass than Bertram! I'd much rather turn the HDS than mess with the Bertram junk!

Joshua W. RichI use Horneber brass in my 500 3 1/4 BPE. Quality is excellent but it is expensive. Just measured a couple of my cases for you and they are .010 as shipped. They're even headstamped 500 BPE. He will ship/sell direct to you.
Good luck.

Jim ManionI'd make sure you got the international dialing down before you called Dieter. I imagine asking a 911 operator here in the states for ammunition components might cause a bit of a stir...

Jim M.Thanks for the info. I am loading for an H & H Royal Underlever hammerless that was ordered for the brother of a Raj in 1898. Steel barrels, beautiful wood, cased with some tools, perfect barrels, etc.
The rifle is marked 3&1/4 inch case.
Now to find the perfect load & and deer, pigs or maybe an elk or a sambar, lion, chui, or whatever!
