450-400 3 1/4 COMPONENT AVAILABILITY
Looking at picking up a 450-400 3 1/4 NE double rifle. Have had several in this caliber some years ago but no longer. What are the availability of these components? Brass, bullets and dies? Thanking you in advance.

I bought a 450/400 3.25” DR in 2019. I bought used RCBS dies from someone on this board. I couldn’t find new dies in the states. Hornady made brass at the time, but quit producing them about a year later. Bullets will be based on the bore diameter.

I checked CH4D website for dies and the site says call for availability. They may have a set. If not, it could be a year plus for dies.

Bertram cases are available at Buffalo Arms. Spendy and poor quality has been my experience with a few calibers from them. Dies will be hard to find and bullets all depends on the bore diameter.

If you can find dies, you can use 450 3 1/4 brass, which is available right now, to form cases.

That’s awesome! Never thought of that.

My 450-400 3" dies (RCBS #24401) have enough "free bore" to work with 3-1/4" cases.
That's what I've done with mine and it worked in an Alex Henry single.

Here's a set online:

Is the 450 x 3 1/4 thin rimmed?
